Should Qualcomm be observant of NVIDIA’s growing popularity with smartphone and tablet manufacturers?

A lot of devices, such as Asus’ Transformer Prime, now use NVIDIA’s Tegra 3 chipset. It’s a very stylish choice within the Android community – something that was immediately obvious to anyone that followed last week’s CES 2012 expo.

And while Qualcomm is still unequivocally issue one in the mobile processing market, it’s now definitely got some stiff tournament in the form of NVIDIA and its Tegra 3 chipset.

NVIDIA made quite a sensation at last year’s CES 2011 and MWC 2011 where the company launched its first dual heart processor – the Tegra 2.

The Tegra 2 went on to power a whole act of Android devices, ranging from the Motorola Xoom to the LG Optimus 2X. All in all 2011 was a enthusiastic year for NVIDIA. But 2012, by the looks of things, should be even better.
