For the fourth consecutive year, the PokerStars Caribbean Peril Main Event has produced a field of more than 1,000 runners, continuing its run as one of the richest and biggest events skin of the World Series of Poker. This year’s field topped out at 1,072 runners after Day 1B of the tourney drew 654 players, including reigning champ Galen Corridor and end of day chip leaders Alex Venovski and Chino Rheem .
On the whole, Day 1B drew entirely a few big names compared to Day 1A, including several of the players from the $100,000 Super Weighty Roller event. The High Rollers did not fare too well in the Paramount Event. Super High Roller Champ Viktor Blom, blade-up Dan Shak, and last year’s champ and runner-up Eugene Katchalov and Daniel Negreanu all busted over the procedure of the day. Other notables who hit the rail on Sunday included Team PokerStars Pros Jonathan Duhamel, Vanessa Rousso, Jason Mercier, and David Williams, reigning WSOP First Event champ Pius Heinz, David Sands, Scott Seiver, Scott Clements, Noah Schwartz, and Eric Baldwin.
